There is nothing supported for 802.11ax or Wi-Fi 6 routers.

Maybe RAX120 in the future, but nobody knows if or when.

Best options are R7800 or R9000 for open source support.

Cheaper older used alternatives are R7500v2 or EA8500.

Thank you.

Maybe be I will go for R9000 if it's better than LINKSYS WRT ?

Any of these routers are better than modern Linksys WRT series with Marvell hardware.

If you need additional CPU resources, then yes R9000. Keep in mind R7800 is the most recommended.

I just picked up yet another (my third) EA8500 on ebay for $37. The bonus, it also included two RE7000 repeaters. Great router for a very cheap price. But not usual. Normally these routers go for $55-$75. It's a little bit more of a task to get dd-wrt on it the first time, but well worth the minor extra bits. I bid on three Netgear R7800s too, but all three went for $100+. They are very popular, therefore driving the price up.

Also something that could be a factor, the R7800 has replaceable antennas (could be upgraded) and the R9000 has fixed (hard wired) antennas.

Cheaper alternative I would clearly prefer D-Link DIR-882. Got one for under $100 not long ago.

Otherwise, Netgear R7800 (generally around $200) is the current standard for DD-WRT and what is currently being sold in the DD-WRT shop preinstalled.

Although I would like to see a Wifi AX compatible router supported by DD-WRT reaching the almost technical 2Gbps with all antennas (my AC only reaches the 600Mbps at best). Although as I've seen in test not even AD can reach the 1Gbps with R9000, so I highly doubt any current advertised AX can reach more than 1 Gbps either although

I've read that Archer AX6000 (Broadcom), Rapture AX11000 (Broadcom) and Netgear Nighthawk AX12 can go over 1,2Gbps

Can't DD-WRT support AX12 based on Qualcomm IPQ8074? Not open sourced this chipset for the kernel?

Surprisingly, Netgear has released the sources not long ago. https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GPL/RAX120v2-V1.2.0.16_gpl_src.tar.bz2.zip
